General Strategy: On a weekly basis, I generally play somewhere between 7-10 lineups. I enter all of these lineups into Tournament style contests. These players that I recommend are not for Double Up Contests.
Quarterbacks:
High End: I’m going heavy on Kyler Murray this week. I think there’s potential for the Cardinals offense to recover against an untested Panthers defense. I think his ownership %’s will definitely be on the low side. I’m also throwing in a lineup with Lamar Jackson. Again, I think you’ll see favorable leverage from low ownership because he is facing the Bills.
Also throwing in 1 lineup of Jalen Hurts. He’s been unbelievable and a matchup with the Jaguars should yield him plenty of opportunities.
Low Level: I’m also taking a flier on Geno Smith. I love the Seahawks in this week’s matchup with the injured Lions, and I think a stack of Smith/Metcalf/Lockett could be dividends.
Running backs:
High Level: Austin Ekeler is my favorite high priced back this week. Running backs have lit up the Texans on the ground for the past two seasons. The Chargers can’t afford to drop to 1-3, and I think they will be forced to increase Ekeler’s snap counts more than what we’ve seen over the first couple weeks. I may throw Christian McCaffery in a lineup or two as a solid run back against a bad Cardinals defense.
Mid Level: I’m playing Rashaad Penny in all lineups that don’t have Geno Smith. I think there’s potential for a huge day against the Lions defense as he demonstrated last season. I also liked what I saw from Rhamondre Stevenson last week. He should get a lot of work if the Patriots are able to stay in shouting distance of the Packers.
Wide Receivers:
High End: DK Metcalf and Marquis Brown are my favorites on the board in the higher price range. Metcalf had a 3 TD game against Detroit last season, and that point total is one of the highest on the slate. Brown is coming off a 14 catch, 17 target performance last week, and I see no reason why the Cardinals won’t continue to feed him.
Mid Level: I continue to see value on Garrett Wilson, and I think we should see some more down field opportunities as Zach Wilson returns to action. If Amon-Ra St. Brown is unable to go, look for Josh Reynolds to utilize. DJ Moore is also very low for a receiver of his caliber. I think he’s also a good run-back option for my Cardinals heavy lineups.
Low End: Josh Palmer of the Chargers has seen his snap count increase with the absence of Keenan Allen. If he continues to be out, he’s another solid option.
Tight Ends: Love Mark Andrews. I think he should be involved heavily regardless of how the Bills/Ravens game script plays out. David Njoku is also appealing at a lower price. Brissett really fed him last week and had great success.
Defense: It’s hard not to like the Cowboys. Washington has been a mess, and the edge pressure from Parsons and Lawrence should really start ramping up some turnovers. I also have Denver plugged into a few lineups. Vegas has had a tough time blocking, and the Broncos can certainly generate pressure with their defensive line.
Other Thoughts:
- No exposure to Josh Allen…. I believe that the Ravens have performed very well as home underdogs. I think his giant price tag is something to fade this week.
- As always, keep an eye out for the final injury reports. I was fortunate enough to roster Mack Hollins last week. The Lions as I mentioned above, are a key team to monitor.
- Avoiding the matchup between Jonathan Taylor/Derrick Henry. I don’t think either team can be trusted yet to pay such a premium.
Good Luck!
