2022 NFL Season – Garrett Wilson Prop Bet

Garrett Wilson Receiving TD’s in 2022 Regular Season – Over 3.5 (-140)

In my first player prop of 2022, I am targeting the explosive rookie receiver of the NY Jets. Am I crazy for playing an offensive over on any member of the Jets? Maybe… but give me a chance to explain myself.

First off, I want to highlight the success of the 2021 rookie receiving class when it came to getting in the end zone:

Player

2021 Receiving TD’s

Ja’Marr Chase

13.00

Jaylen Waddle

6.00

Jauan Jennings

5.00

Elijah Moore

5.00

DeVonta Smith

5.00

Amon-Ra St. Brown

5.00

Josh Palmer

4.00

There were 7 rookie wide receivers that reached the end zone 3+ times in 2021. I think Wilson is every bit as talented as the players above with the exception of Chase and Waddle.

I also want to focus on the success that Wilson’s fellow Jet teammate Elijah Moore had last season. Moore battled injuries for a prolonged stretch during 2021, yet he was still able to score 5 TD’s and rack up 77 targets in just 11 games. Because the Jets trailed in so many games for significant time, the offense was forced into passing situations. In fact, at 22 attempts per game, the Jets ran the ball less than any team in the NFL. I think you can expect much of the same for 2022, with the Jets still in a rebuilding mode with a young quarterback. This should yield extra opportunities and targets for Garrett Wilson and the rest of the receivers.

Finally, I want to focus specifically on Wilson’s dynamic skill set. Wilson’s explosiveness after the catch can certainly give him a leg up when it comes to scoring TD’s. On his scouting report, I think he has specific skills that should make him a red zone threat. Particularly, these traits caught my eye, and you can clearly see them pop in his highlight reel:

  • Good hand extension to pluck throws away from his frame.
  • Hang-time leaper and mid-air contortionist.
  • Brings in really difficult jump balls and 50-50s.
  • Slip-and-go talent after the catch.

I like this bet enough to lay the -140 and take the over. I think he hits 4 TD’s by Thanksgiving.

Best of Luck!
