2022 NFL Season – Week 1 DraftKings Analysis (Available)

This season, I am doing my best to offer sound advice on winning DraftKings Tournaments in the NFL.

General Strategy: On a weekly basis, I generally play somewhere between 7-10 lineups. I enter all of these lineups into Tournament style contests. These players that I recommend are not for Double Up Contests.

Quarterbacks:

High End: I am playing Patrick Mahomes in several lineups. I recommend stacking with Travis Kelce and I have included Ju Ju Smith-Schuster as well on a few. It has been exciting to see the point spread move in Kansas City’s favor, and the point total is one of the highest on the board for week 1.

Mid Level: Trey Lance and Jalen Hurts are my favorite quarterbacks in the mid range. I think they both have a ton of rushing upside and touchdown potential against two weaker opponents.

I’m also taking a shot on a Derek Carr lineup. In this lineup, I am pairing with both Renfrow and Adams.

Running backs:

Mid Level: The backs that I am playing are all in the mid level area. My favorite is Aaron Jones. I think Jones is one of the few players left on the Packers offense that Aaron Rodgers trusts. He should have a huge day receiving against a pretty mediocre Vikings defense.

Besides him I am playing Najee Harris, Travis Etienne, Eli Mitchell, and Chase Edmunds. Make sure to double check Mitchell’s status before Sunday, as he has battled injury. Insert Jeff Wilson, if he’s unable to go. I would also avoid playing Lance and one of the 49ers backs together.

Wide Receivers:

High End: I love Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill this week. I think this should be evident in the gambling analysis.

Mid Level: My favorite mid level play is Amon-Ra St. Brown. He dominated in the last third of 2021, as a reception machine. I expect Philly to win at Detroit, which should put Brown in a position to catch a lot of passes. Also using Renfrow and Smith-Schuster.

Low End: I’m taking 2 chances on a couple rookies. George Pickens and Jahan Dotson could round out lineups nicely. Pickens has been an absolute monster at training camp, and all indications out of Washington are that Dotson has earned a starting role next to Terry Mclaurin. Dotson could be a great play against a Jaguars defense that couldn’t stop anyone last year.

Tight Ends: Kelce and Goedert are my guys this week.

Defense: I’m almost exclusively playing Miami. Slipping in Pittsburgh where applicable.

Other Thoughts:

  • I’m staying away from Jonathan Taylor. Certainly a risky move, but I think he’ll be widely owned. He destroyed the Texans in both games last year and averaged close to 10 yards per rush. I simply think the receiving backs that I chose could get close to equal value. Crossing my fingers that he doesn’t go for 200+
  • Both the Chargers and Bengals should be popular teams to play from a DK perspective. I think there’s a good possibility they could get surprised by their division rivals, and am therefore staying away.
  • I’m staying away from Derrick Henry in his first game back. The Titans have been a fade candidate as a large favorite. Spread continues to edge closer to the Giants.
  • I don’t like Justin Jefferson against the Packers. Jaire Alexander should shadow him for much of the game. Alexander was out during the monster 169 yard performance against the Packers in 2021.
  • Christian McCaffery doesn’t do it for me this week. I think Cleveland’s defense is getting overlooked. Carolina could have a ton of problems moving the ball.

Good Luck!
