2022 NFL Season – Week 5 DraftKings Analysis

This season, I am doing my best to offer sound advice on winning DraftKings Tournaments in the NFL.

General Strategy: On a weekly basis, I generally play somewhere between 7-10 lineups. I enter all of these lineups into Tournament style contests. These players that I recommend are not for Double Up Contests.

Quarterbacks:

High End: Hard not to like Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts yet again. They are truly the class of fantasy football right now. I think both will see their typical high ownership %’s, so I will probably just use 1 lineup each. One thing to be wary of with Josh Allen is the blowout factor. He could be out of the game by the time the 4th quarter rolls around.

Mid Level: Tom Brady is my favorite QB on the board. As I mentioned in my week 5 analysis, Brady has shredded the Falcons defense every time he has faced them as a Buc. Coming off a 2 game losing streak with just about all of his weapons back, I’d expect to see Tampa score into the mid 30’s and Brady should lead that effort.

Low Level: I think Andy Dalton could provide some good value at a low number. Throwing him in a lineup should allow you to load up on some high end receivers and running backs. Seattle’s defense has been dreadful, and I think the Saints are in a must win game. New Orleans has one of the highest implied team totals on the board at 26.5.

Running backs:

High Level: Nick Chubb is my favorite option here. He has a high price tag, but he has been extremely consistent and his track record is excellent against the struggling Chargers defense. I’d also look to Alvin Kamara if he’s able to suit up. He’s had a quiet season so far, but this could be his breakout opportunity.

Mid Level: Both Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson are solid options for the Patriots. Detroit’s rush defense has been one of the softest in the NFL and with Bailey Zappe likely under center, expect the Patriots to run the ball 40+ times. Jeff Wilson should also be a smart play as he continues to get the lions’ share of carries. He should have plenty of possession time as the elite 49ers defense matches up with possibly the worst offense in the NFL in the Panthers.

Wide Receivers:

High End: I’ll look to sprinkle in Diggs/Tyreek Hill in a few spots. Mike Evans will be heavily involved in my lineups to pair with Tom Brady.

Mid Level: Chris Godwin should have a field day against the Falcons. I mentioned his 17 target 15 catch performance against Atlanta last year, and the Falcons have continued to have problems with inside receivers. Chris Olave should also be in line for a big day. The Saints are expected to be without Michael Thomas again, which should put Olave in the drivers’ seat of the Saints’ receiving room.

Low End: George Pickens finally came to life and it’s no coincidence that it came when Kenny Pickett was inserted into the lineup. He should have a lot of opportunities for receptions as the Steelers will likely have to throw all day in a trailing game script. Jarvis Landry could be worth a look to pair with Andy Dalton in a Saints stack.

Tight Ends: Tyler Higbee has been the only other pass catcher besides Cooper Kupp that Matthew Stafford has looked at. I think he’s still reasonably priced given his target share.

Defense: I’m heavily invested in Dallas again this week. Parsons/Lawrence pass rush combination has been a problem and they face a Rams line that has given up a ton of sacks in the early going. Stafford has been prone to making some questionable throws under pressure. 49ers/Bucs are also obvious choices, but you have to pay a pretty hefty premium. Interesting choice could be New England given how well Belichick’s track record against Jared Goff is.

Other Thoughts:

  • Thought about adding a Bridgewater/Hill/Waddle stack, but I’m still convinced that Jets game is trap-worthy. I think Hill will be fine regardless of the game flow.
  • Little nervous not having Jefferson or Kupp in any lineups… feels dangerous, but I’m living on the edge this week.

That’s all I have…

Good Luck!
